Acrobat DC Student - subscription?

Hi there, I am wanting to purchase the acrobat student edition but some are saying that even though you pay the advertised price, to be fore warned that there is also a monthly subscription to pay. Is that information correct? Do I have to buy the product and then on top of that pay a monthly fee to use the product or is the subscription fee for cloud storage (which I do not need). Is someone able to confirm is the purchase price is all that is required to use the software or you have to purchase it and also a monthly subscription. I tried to ask a sales representative at Adobe by so far am on hold for over one hour and 20 minutes, so am trying to seek assistance through the forums. Thank you
