Question

Acrobat DC won't register my document as "text" and will not let me highlight text

Acrobat DC won't register my document as "text" and will not let me highlight text within my doc. When I choose "Enhance Forms" and choose "Recognize text" for this document it then gives me an error that it cannot recognize text because there is already "renderable text" on the doc. So it see's some text, but not all the text. Any ideas?

You are getting this issue as document is already partially OCRed. So when you are trying to run OCR its giving this error to avoid any loss of existing information. We are working on it to handle this kind of situations without loosing existing information in latest Acrobat DC.

Meanwhile you can use 1 workaround as of now if that works fine for you.

1. Open File> Save As Other> Image> (any Format)

2. Create new PDF from these images.. Create > PDF from File> select all these images

3. Run OCR now. It will work and OCR it completely without giving such errors.

I hope it will resolve your problem. We will inform you once permanent solution is available in Acrobat.

Thanks.

How did you create the document?
