Acrobat states that file cannot be opened even though it was created in Acrobat.

I am using a PC with Windows 10. Recently I am getting a message when I try to open files using Acrobat 9.0 Pro even thought they were created by Acrobat 9.0 Pro. The message does not have a number but states that the files are not a supported file type or that it has been damaged. Is there a way to recover these files.

Have you tried opening this file on a system with an OS prior to Windows 10?

Did you run the compatibility checker before upgrading to Windows 10?

Did you check to see if Acrobat 9.0 can work with Windows 10

Acrobat 9.0 is no longer supported by Adobe per its product life cycle policy, You will need to upgrader to Acrobat DC or Adobe Reader DC.

I have had Windows 10 on the PC for about three months. The files worked fine, some were created 2 weeks ago, until Microsoft’s update push last week. I’m getting essentially the same message for many files, not just Adobe. Microsoft’s Tier 3 said the files had been disabled, but no information, to me, on how to fix them.
