Adobe Acrobat 2.0 problem - help please!

I've had Adobe Acrobat 2.0 Standard working well for years (and is entirely appropriate for what I need it for) until about 2 weeks ago when it stopped. My OS is Windows 7. I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled a couple of times to no effect. When creating a pdf from a Word document (my usual task with Acrobat) it starts the process and then reaches a point where it freezes and eventually I have to close the programme. The 'Adobe PDFMaker' progress window reaches a point where it says: "Converting to Adobe PDF ..." and then freezes. Any advice and help to solve greatly appreciated! Thanks, John

Thanks for your quick reply. Yes, that's what I feared and it stopped just when microsoft sent through an automatic update a week or so ago which stopped acrobat in it's tracks (as well as my Hotmail accounts on WLM 2012; this now sorted). It had been running on W7 for years! Thanks anyway. John

If you have Windows 7 Pro or better you can try using XP mode (assuming you can still get it at Download Windows XP Mode from Official Microsoft Download Center ).

For information on installing Acrobat 7, see: "Activation server unavailable" error in Adobe CS2, Acrobat 7, and Audition 3

Also, it can't be activated any more. You might be lucky enough that the original activation is still working.

You were not running Acrobat Standard 2.0 because there was no such product. What was it really? You can read it from the About dialog, or the CD you used to install.

Hi, yes, you are right! I misread the CD label. It is Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard. Any thoughts about a next step?

Thanks, John

That makes more sense, but it's still a very old version, not compatible with Windows 7.

That's a 20+ years old software, more or less... You can't seriously expect it to run (at all, not to mention without issues) on a current operating system, do you? It's time for an upgrade.

Hi! Yes, old software certainly (actually Acrobat 7.0 not 2.0 as another respondent has pointed out) but it was working fine for creating PDFs which is all I need and to replace with Adobe Standard DC will cost £282 - or over £11 a month forever!!! - is not a good deal for me. Any magic wands?! Cheers, John
