Adobe Acrobat DC Does Not Print, No Error Message

I have an issue that occurs about half of the time when using Adobe Acrobat.  The issue is that when I try to print a document from Acrobat when I click the print button from the Windows print dialog box nothing happens.  This is regardless of what printer is selected.  The only way I can get it to print again is by closing Acrobat and then reopening and trying to print the PDF.  Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.  I have run through the troubleshooting guide here: Acrobat and Reader Help / Troubleshoot PDF printing | Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader but nothing in this article has resolved the issue.  I have looked through the event viewer but nothing is logged.  I just completely uninstalled and reinstalled but the issue still remains.  I am guessing that Acrobat is not successfully sending the print job to the printing sub system within windows but I have not found a fix for this or any way to verify.  The system is Windows 7 Pro x64, 8GB ram and Intel i5 processor.
