Adobe installer says serial number is invalid when installing Acrobat X

I have accessed my account information, obtained the serial number for Acrobat X and am trying to install that product on a new computer. The installer is giving me a message that the serial number is invalid. Why?

is your acrobat x pro or std? or you using the correct installation file (eg, pro vs std).

is your acrobat x an upgrade from a previuos version?

are you changing from pc to mac or vice-versa?
