Adobe pro dc refuses to save changed fonts

I have just spent three full days going through an older adobe file in adobe acrobat dc version 2015.006.30119 changing the fonts to something that could be embedded in the pdf publish (pdfx) version of the file.  On my initial run through, the preflight found a number of times that the fonts had not been changed, particularly dots in a numbered list, but other text as well.  I went through one by one and changed these, double checking that this had been done and then ran preflight again on the edited file.  Almost all of the changes appeared to not be there.  So I tried again on a section of the document and saved it in a different name.  Then I completely closed down adobe, repoened the new file and tried running preflightagain.  Once again, the changes I know I made were not there.

There is clearly something wrong with adobe and I can't spend weeks doing this over and over again.  Please either explain how to globally change the fonts and make sure it works or get this program to actually save these changes.  If there is something wrong with adobe (which I suspect is the case), could someone who actually works for the company fix this?

Thank you

You've had the files for a week.  Please let me know what is going on.  This is VERY time critical.  Thank you

I don't understand this message.  Please give me an email where I can send files.

Thanks for trying, but this does not work!

I found that there were no updates for the program, but I reset the preferences as discussed and tried again.  It didn't work.  It is clear that for some reason it is not changing the bullets in bulleted lists.

It is also hard to get it to select those lists and there doesn't seem to be a way to type or copy and past a bullet in a list either.  There was one bullet that somehow had gotten moved and I selected it, changed the font successfully and tried to use that to replace the others but it would not even let me touch those bullets.

This is clearly a problem with acrobat.  Please do whatever needs to be done to fix it and let me know.

I have attached both the latest version of the file and the report in a direct email.

Thank you,

Hi tiredofsloppyprograms ,

Please check whether is there any update available for the software after going through "help > check for updates "

Follow this thread to reset the preferences for the Acrobat software :- How to reset Preference settings in Acrobat.

Is this happening with other files as well .

Also refer to this article :- PDF fonts, Adobe Acrobat

Thank you for responding. I'll check again, but its a recent version of

the program and it should self update. I'm not sure what I'm supposed

to do with resetting preferences and what that will do?

This is a unique file. It was created in some publishing program and

saved in adobe 2001 with fonts that are no longer available years ago.

As I said in my help message, I have gone through and changed the fonts

throughout five times now, but the dots in numbered lists and a couple

of other places refuse to change.

I don't know if you can figure out why, but I've attached the file.

Thank you,

Jo Anne Schneider
