Adobepdf.dll

Question

I just installed my licensed copy of Acrobat 8 professional on a new laptop. I know it's old, but I know how to use it, use it daily, and don't have time to learn a newer version right now. I can't print to pdf, because of the adobepdf.dll error message. I worked with the Dell tech support guy and we found a fix which let the program install, but the port is blank when attempts are made to print to pdf.

Is there a way to correct this, that I can do myself? I don't want to do anything that could damage my new system.

Acrobat 8 Pro is not fully compatible with any version of Windows beyond Windows XP nor is it compatible with any 64-bit version of Windows.

If you do install Acrobat 8 Pro on Windows Vista or Windows 7, if you then let it update to Acrobat 8.1 Pro, the print to Adobe PDF functionality should be restored (the incompatibility was due to changes in Windows' print architecture). Beyond Windows 7 (i.e., Windows 8.x and Windows 10), it may or may not work with that update.

Dov,I couldn't link to anything that might contain updates using Help in Acobat. I found a great reference when working with Dell support, and he tried those instructions. We thought it worked, but when we tried it, it wouldn't print to pdf. I subsequently found two options: If you still have a serial key for it, this installs version 8.1.0: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-8-9-product-downloads.html Also available on their ftp site: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/8.x/ Latest update (8.3.1): ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/8.x/8.3.1/misc/I may try downloading the program again, but those responding to the instructions said they weren't able to download using the serial key and they were positive the number was correct. I'm not opposed to buying new Acrobat software, but I don't have time to learn how to use a newer version. Acrobat 8.0 Pro does what I need and I know how to use it. I've found other software that can fill in the gap between me using Acrobat to make forms and complete forms and then print to pdf, but why should I have to do anything but download an update? I find not being able to access the updates irritating. If you work for Adobe, please pass it on. If you have any suggestions or instructions for loading the rtf files, please let me know.
