Can embedded data be exported from a PDF?

I have a PDF that depicts an electrical schematic.  Using Reader, when I click on each component symbol (resistor, capacitor, etc.) a window pops up containing all the data associated with that component (rating, manufacturer, part number, etc.).  Using Acrobat, is there a way to export a file containing this data for all components on the schematic?  This would create a complete complete bill of material and be much more accurate that if I transcribed the data manually. I suspect this is XML type data.
