Cannot input initial text into sticky note

I am having a weird problem with sticky notes.  When I create a sticky note, the box pops up and immediately shows my name and the white space below for the reply - but does not show the white space for my comment.  If I click the yellow space under my name, the white area for my comment pops up for a micro-second and then immediately disappears!   I have to continuously delete the sticky note and add a new one somewhere on the page until a note pops up with the white space for my initial comment.   This is happening on and off and is taking huge chunks of time on a time-sensitive project.   WHY IS THIS HAPPENING AND HOW DO I FIX IT????

I am on Acrobat Pro DC on Windows 10.
