Cannot run Acrobat 9 Pro

Out of the blue my Acrobat 9 pro stopped working with the error:

(148:3)

You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair the problem ...

I tried "repair" but the problem remains.  I have a valid serial number and it is listed in my Adobe Account page.

Help would be greatly appreciated.
