Convert Letter to A4 format without losing bookmarks

Hello,

I am trying to convert individuals PDF files from standard Letter size to A4 size without losing any bookmarks. I have Adobe Acrobat XI Pro and was told this is possible but cannot find how. Am I wrong in assuming this is possible?

Thank you for any advice.

Hi Karl,

I continued to mess with it and I was able to successfully get it to "A4" sizing with the crop tool via the two steps but I am still concerned about losing margin data. I am needing to convert 1000s of pages which is why I am trying to avoid losing my precious bookmarks haha Best thing I have been able to do is go back to my vendors and have them completely redo the data packages in A4 and re-bookmark them. I was thinking this was going to be quite convenient with Adobe but I thought in error.

You can actually combine the two steps in an Action, and then run this Action on one or more files with just a couple of mouse clicks. If you want to upgrade to Acrobat DC Pro, that would give you access to the preflight fix. You can download and test a 30 day evaluation copy of Acrobat DC. Just make sure that you don't install it on a computer that already has Acrobat on, or be prepared to install that again from scratch.

You can only use the crop tool if your content is not larger than the final page size allows. You would have to do this in two steps: First, you need to go from height of 279.4mm to 297 (resulting in a page size of 215.9x297mm), and then in a second step, you would crop the page down to your target size of 210x297mm

If you have content that goes to the margins, unfortunately, with Acrobat XI Pro, there is no option to rescale the page size without having to give up on the bookmarks. In Acrobat DC Pro, you can use a new preflight fix to scale the page content from e.g. Letter to A4.

Hi Karl, thanks for responding. So am I to understand the easiest solution in order to not lose bookmarks etc is to purchase Acrobat DC Pro? I tried the advice from your first paragraph but I am still getting an error with the crop tool. I will keep messing with it though. I am trying to find info on the DC Pro with directions to use the preflight fix tool. If it will allow me to do letter to A4 easily then I will purchase it.

Use the crop tool for this.
