How would I create a digital signature from the Identities and trusted certificates area but have it use the image of my actual signature rather that the commuter generated text? It would be combining the set up for trusted certificates and creation and appearance options.

Certificates for Signing and for Trust are generally different. Certificates for Signing are under the Digital IDs and for Trust under Trusted certificates. Although you can add a certificate for signing to the Trusted Certificates and there are cases when this is advisable, in order for you to be able to use a certificate for signing (with both private and public keys) you must include it in Digital IDs. Most certificate in Trusted Identities have only public key. Certificate without private key cannot be used for signing.

If you want to include an image of our signature in your digital signatures appearance you need to create a custom appearance  (the easiest way to do that is to select "Create New Appearance" from the "Appearance" field in the :Sign dialog).
