Create Spot Color for Alias

Question

I have a set of PDFs using a spot color. I need to assign the alias S01 to the spot color (PANTONE 280 CV) so our system can identify the colors for printing plates.

I've figured out how to assign an alias to a spot color, but I don't know how to create the alias S01 using Acrobat DC.

I am able to do this in InDesign by creating a new color swatch, naming it S01 and use Ink Manager to alias it to the spot color. The trouble is, I don't have INDD files for this project. I can't imagine having to recreate each PDF just to alias a color.

You can edit and save a preflight profile that will do this. Start with the Fixup- Map spot and process colors, You can add the name S01 under Destination color name. See this old thread:
