Creating an interactive portfolio document with InDesign and Acrobat

I just wondered if anyone could steer me in the right direction with an idea I have in my head.

I’ve been tasked with creating an interactive company portfolio document. What I want to do is a little more complex than what I’m about to describe, but if I can crack this basic technique then I should be able to build what is in my head.

Basically, imagine a page with six buttons on it. Tapping on to any of the buttons will take the reader to the start of a sequence of three pages which they can scroll back and forth between by swiping left or right. If they want to return to the home page from any of these three sub-pages, they just need to swipe down on any of them.

I thought I would be able to do this with a combination of InDesign, ePub and PDF. However, InDesign and Acrobat’s interactive tools look a little limited and do not provide the “bounce” effect you get when scrolling through websites and apps on mobile devices. It also seems quite hard to limit the reader to a three-page sequence, if they swipe to the side again on sub-pages 1 or 3, they seem able to get elsewhere in the document, I can’t force the pages to “stop” at those points – they carry on in to the next sub-set of three pages if the reader swipes to the side again.

I’m sure there must be a (fairly) straightforward answer to all this. I am pretty experienced with InDesign and Acrobat, but know nothing about ePub. Have I missed something or should I be using a different set of tools/software entirely?

Thanks in advance for any and all advice offered.
