Date field rounding up to next year; how to fix?

I'm trying to add the Date of Birth form field to a form and the year keeps rounding up to the next year.  I've tried deleting the form field and adding it back in, but that does not fix it.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Does the field have a Date format? Or some other Format setting? Can you share the file in question?

Thank you for the reply.  Yes, I've formatted the date field as m/d/yyyy.

Unfortunately, I cannot share the file in question since it's a draft form and I cannot have it circulating out there.
