does adobe reader work on OS X YOSEMITE version 10.10.5 macbook

I cannot open any pdf file on my laptop . By mistake I purchased adobe reader for windows. An online agent replaced my product for the mac version giving me a new serial number. I installed the adobe reader and went on holidays to find on my return nothing works !!! ... and it seems impossible to contact adobe by phone .. so frustrating

2. You can contact Adibe by phone if you have a paid product but not of course Adobe Reader because it is free.

3. What exactly happens now when you try to use whatever product you have? Please give any messages in full.
