Doing OCR on a PDF file?

Hi,

since it is possible to export a (in my case, scanned) PDF file as a Word document, text file etc. after having done OCR on it: Is there a possibility to export a PDF file as a PDF file after having done OCR on it? Put more simply, is it possible to do just OCR on a PDF file (without any export)?

Any help would be appreciated!

Yes, you can run OCR or Export on a PDF.

1. Open a file and go to Tools> Enhance Scans

2. Click recognize Text menu item and select In this file option

3. Select OCR language

4. Default value of OCR output style is "Searchable Image (Exact)". It will create a background layer of text in your PDF and will not change anything in your PDF

5. Now click recognize Text

It will run OCR and text will be searchable now. Hope it will resolve your issue.

These last two answers indeed answer a question; although not the question I originally asked.

My original posting was unfortunately moved from the forum pertaining to the iOS app to this forum.

I already knew about the OCR features of the desktop application.

My question was, then, if this same kind of OCR can be done by the iOS app; in this app OCR is possible when, at the same time, the results are exported as one of several file formats (but not including PDF as far as I could see).

To finish this thread: It seems to me that PDF-to-PDF OCR is NOT possible in the iOS app. Is this assumption correct?
