uninstall all acrobat and reader versions, if any are installed.

clean per Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

restart your computer and download the install file from here with the posted serial number, Download Adobe Acrobat 7 and Adobe Creative Suite 2 products

right click the install file > properties > compatibility mode > win xp

right click the install file > click 'install as administrator'
