Exporting with flowing text causes text to become garbled/random characters. Anyway to fix?

I am exporting a pdf as a word document with flowing text, it formats correctly, but after a certain page, all of the text turns into random characters. Is there anyway to fix this? It did not garble the text when I exported without flowing text, but that does not serve my purposes.
