Finding duplicate check numbers in PCLs converted to PDF

Question

We have an automated check processing software that outputs PCL files that are typically sent to printer to produce checks. Lately, we've been attempting to find out if duplicate checks are being generated by the software. In order to do this, we would like to know if its possible for Adobe DC Pro (or a combination of PCL to PDF converter and Adobe) could "flag" images that have the same check number data element on the form. The check number is always in the same position on the form, so I'm thinking their may be a way to accomplish this through DC Pro. At the end of the day, we would like this process to be automated, with any potential duplicates being captured into a report or some other means.

If someone could assist in answering this question, that would be very helpful.

Are these numbers a part of an image? If so, it can't be done in Acrobat, unless you first run Text Recognition on the file and the numbers are converted to "real" text. If that's the case it might be possible to do it using a script.
