Forced to save edits as a new document

HI all,

I receive the following message after editing an existing PDF.

The document could not be saved.  The file may be read only, or another user may have it open.  Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder.

This occurs whenever any edit is made and the document is definitely not being used by anyone else and I do not want to create a new document.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John

Correct answer Karl Heinz Kremer

Take a look at this: Who is Hogging My File? - KHKonsulting LLC

Your problem is very likely related to the preview pane. If this does not resolve your problems, please provide more information about what Acrobat version and operating system you are using.

Karl, what do you mean by preview pane? Change preview pane settings?

Did you look at the article? It's the Windows Explorer preview pane. You need to turn off the preview feature.
