I have resolved my issue.  Apparently my problem was centered around not having the adequate administrative rights to install and load external software to my workstation.  I had to contact our IT group who was able to install and monitor the installation process for security purposes.  In discussing this with others at my company they recalled a similar situation about a year ago.  At that time, there was direct communication with Adobe about the problem installing the software.  Adobe's conclusion at that time was not having adequate administrative rights.
