Has anyone had issues with their Macs running slow when turning on after the latest updates?

After the latest update, my iMac would run extremely slow after turning it on again. it would take over an hour before I can use the program or any other app for that matter. It didn't start happening until the day after I updated the latest for photoshop, bridge and lightroom.

I own a mid 2009 Macbook with a 480 GB SSD and 6 GB ram. It's definitely behind the times and yet it runs Adobe, Corel and Microsoft programs under OSX 10.11.4 All programs start up in under a minute.

Have you tried going into Disk Utility > First Aid and run a Verify and Repair Permissions on your volume?

A Restart might clear things up and resetting NVRAM or PRAM would be a last resort.
