Help inserting an image in a already created PDF

I am trying to insert a JPEG into a PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro version 9.5.5 and I am getting an error mesg of incorrect PDE object type.  I am right clicking and trying to place image that was saved to my desktop.  Thank you

Open up your JPEG images in photoshop and save as in another extension (i.e., .tif, .png etc.) and place the save as images onto pdf.
