HELP!   I am not a computer person, so please answer in terms a kindergarten can understand (they probably know more than me).   Im using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC

I have created a fillable PDF entry form for an event and made a submit button, but its not working or ive done something wrong.

Here is what I did:      1) Prep Form.

  • To Prep Form
  • Click on Button I made
  • Click Properties
  • Click Actions
  • Ive tried Mouse up, down, enter & Exit
  • Click Add and in the URL put  mailto:address@pa.net
  • Click Complete PDF
  • Click Close and saved the form

When I go the website and fill out the form it does nothing.   Sends nothing.   I need the entire form to come in an email and I guess let the user know their entries have been sent.  How do i do this?

Help please?   Thank you.

You should use Mouse Up, not anything else.

Whether the button works depends on what PDF viewer the user is using. It won't work in most browsers but might work if the form is opened directly in Adobe Reader (or Acrobat). Whether it works in Reader depends on how the users system is configured and a bit on what version of Reader they're using. Submitting by email has always been unreliable and there's not a lot you can do about this. A good approach though is to give specific instructions for downloading the form, opening it in Adobe Reader, and if the email button doesn't work, manually attaching the filled-in PDF to an email that they initiate. You can also look into alternatives to PDF forms.
