Help With Test Calculations

I need help with test scales that measure 2 things.  The primary measure is based upon likert scale calculations that populate various scales.  These 21 scales involve the sums of a variety of measures.  There are 2 scales that do not need weighted variables, they simply need a score of 1 for each of 9 items.  Ufortunately, these same questions contain weighted  variables.  How do I get the questions summed using the weighted structure, while at the same time, create the +1 for each of the questions that require it?  I know this is confusing.  Please ask questions.  My email address is jaxbybarnes@gmail.com.
