I once (now it appears, foolishly) selected "Search Tools" and now Tools covers the entire Document view.  (Acrobat DC, of course)

Hello BarbaraM1,

In Adobe Acrobat DC you have no option to disable the Tools from covering the document as it is in a tabbed view. There are there tabs, Home I Tools I Document. When you are able to see the tools(as in screenshot you sent), you are in TOOLS tab. If you don't want to move to tools tab you can add tools to the right hand side by clicking in "Add" under tools. and you will be able to see it next to the document. Or you can simply search for any tool on the tools section on right hand side of the document.

Re Staff's comment:

For some reason, I can't reply directly to your comment.  Re this comment: when I select "Home," the software just takes me to the list of recently opened files, which I don't need, since I have those through my taskbar pin.  Again, I cannot view the document.  I can view the document again by selecting the tab "Document," but then I can't work with the Tools except after they cover the pdf again.  So, a non-productive cycle out of which I can't seem to escape.  My goal is to be able to view the pdf and the Tools simultaneously, even while using a Tool, which we were able to do in Acrobat X Pro.  This is what I am trying to achieve.  Is such a view possible?

And thank you for responding.

Re Mr. Negi's comment:

Thank you for this explanation.  When I first worked in Acrobat DC, I thought I was able to work with Tools from its side panel while still viewing the pdf.  I thought it was only after I selected "Search Tools" that I achieved this blanketing effect (by Tools).  Of course, it's likely that I'm wrong about that, but I do remember searching for Recognize Text, since I didn't know it had been moved under "Enhance Scan."  Your observation is that one can't work in Tools without the blanketing phenomenon?  If that's correct, I'll abandon my quest for a view that shows both the pdf and the Tools, while one is using the latter, at once.

And thank you for responding.
