I was advised to check that the pdf is ISO compliant. How do I do that?

You can check this with the preflight tool of Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I am a neophyte user of Adobe Document Cloud, don't have AA Pro. P.S. I'm preparing a file to upload to an book printer to independently publish a book.
