Good god, this is inconvenient. I'm on a high speed cable line with a very good computer. Movies download in seconds. Why do I suspect I'll have to fix a bunch of crap that's being installed? This is horrible.

Please use cleaner tool Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs to completely remove traces of Acrobat and restart your system.
Then download Acroabt from here: Download Adobe Acrobat products | Standard, Pro | DC, XI, X
