How to change page size in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro and Adobe PDF printer?

We have a problem with the wrong page size in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. It is installed in our Citrix environment on Windows 2008 R2 terminal servers.

Per default the page size is configured to "letter" in Adobe Acrobat and in the Adobe PDF printer and we need to change it to "A4".

Where are these setting saved and how can I change it? Is there a registry key or something else?

I found out, that it is possible to edit the template files ".joboptions" under "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings" to change the page size for the Adobe Acrobat. Is this the only way to do this?

But how can I change the settings for the Adobe PDF printer?

And what did we do wrong that the page size is set to "letter"?

Correct answer

Ok, I found a solution.

I exported the correct Adobe PDF Printer settings with rundll32.exe,PrintUIEntry... and imported it on all servers with PsExec.

The ".joboptions" files I have edited to the correct Page Size and copied on all servers.

Go to printers, right click and select "printer properties" (4th option.) On the right in this screen, available paper ("beschikbaar papier") only had one option, and that was "letter". Now it is A4.

What did I do to achieve this?

1. Go to the tab "advanced", then click on "default settings", than in this dialog change "Letter" to A4.

2. Then go to another tab, "Device settings" probably ("Apparaatinstellingen" in dutch).

Make sure that on the line where it says "OnlyOne" in the list of available paper sizes, A4 is selected.

The settings under job options apply only when the PostScript being distilled has no page size. The results of the PDF printer will always have a page size. So those job options will never have any effect. They are a rather specialist/heritage setting.

The other settings are part of printer setup. They will be stored somewhere by Windows. The location and registry key are variable, as part of how Windows stores device devependent settings. You set them in printer preferences. Directly changing the registry does not usually work, as they are cached. Unless Microsoft provide driver option deployment tools, you must set them manually.

Really?

As I described above we have a enterprise environment. We can't change this setting on all servers manually.

That's why I asked where these settings are saved. Then we can change it over GPO's.
