How to create a global search function on multiple PDF files on a CD

As a technical writer, I create a CD which includes many manuals in PDF. I need a global search function conducting a search on ALL these PDF manualson the CD. I used to 1) create an index over the PDF files (.pdx, or Full Tex Index with Catalog) and 2) add a link "Edit > Advanced Search" in the main menu of the CD and in each of individual PDF files. Then, when you opened that link, the Search window would appear with the pdx file already open, which let you conduct a search on all the PDF files at one shot. I noticed that this no longer works. I How can I embed a global search function for my CD users?
