How to edit a PDF document

Question

I have Adobe Pro DC.  I would like to edit a PDF.  I open the PDF, highlight the text to be edited and I cannot edit.  I have clicked on tools, opened edit and it just asks me to purchase Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.  What am I doing wrong?
