You wouldn't, I'd say. You upgraded your system... time to upgrade Acrobat. Unfortunately you left it far too late for a reduced price upgrade to the current version, but you can either buy or subscribe to Acrobat DC.

Didn't answer my question but advised me on a new purchase.

That's the correct answer, even if you're not happy with it...

You can try to install Acrobat 8 on Windows 10. It might work or it might not. It's an incompatible combination, so you do so at your own risk.
