Question

How to make a non-searchable PDF?

Hi

I have a PDF that is used as readings for a test.  We want the students to actually read the content and not search keywords in the text to quickly get to the answers.

I know that I can change the PDF to images, but i worry that this will decrease print quality and increase file size.

I see there is a way to remove copy from a PDF in the security section, but can't see how to make a PDF non-searchable.

Ideally I would like the make the text non searchable, but store the text/fonts as it is.

Any suggestions?

With Acrobat Pro and the Preflight Tool you can convert the fonts to outlines. This will also increase the file size.
