Hyperlinks Dissapearing

How do I generate a pdf from MS Word which has hyperlinks connected to Word shapes?

I'm trying to produce an interative workflow/flowchart but I when using Adobe Acrobat Pro 10 to generate the pdf the hyperlinks dissapear in anything other than embedded images.

Any help would be much appreciated, £400 for Adobe Pro is expensive when you can't get it to do basic things
