I am exporting a PDF file to Excel. In several instances, a single bounding box is surrounding multiple rows of data, which then export to a single row in Excel rather than a single row per item. How can I adjust the bounding boxes in the PDF to surround a single row of data?

Hi Becky,

If i understand correctly, the following steps could help you achieve what you need:

Click the Select tool . Press Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac OS) to create a rectangular selection.

Drag a rectangle over the content to copy.

Right-click the selection, and choose "Export Selection As" and specify a filename.

If this does not work for you, please send us the file you are trying to export @ agarwala@adobe.com

We apologize for the delay in response.

Unfortunately, we do not provide a functionality to adjust the bounding boxes in the PDF to surround a single row of data.

Ideally, we should be able to identify the rows individually. If that is not happening in your case, i would request you to please share the file you are trying to export @ : agarwala@adobe.com

I have the same problem -- in Acrobat Pro 9, you could select rows and columns in a .pdf and Copy As Table to Excel. All would translate very well. In Acrobat DC, the formatting does not follow and columns are combined/merged with fonts reduced. The output is unuseable.

Would like to know whether is this happening to one file or with others as well. Also check whether the Acrobat Application is up to date after going through the 'Help > Check for updates '.

using the edit pdf tool you may modify the box in pdf file.

Hello Yatharth,

I exported 4 files and this happened with all. There are no updates to my program, which is Adobe Acrobat DC. The EDIT PDF tool places the boxes around the data which I can size, but does not allow me to create my own boxes or separate out the data into individual rows.

i too am having this issue, edit pdf recognizes the format but when going to excel it just forgets them
