Question

I Can't Delete My PDF Files

Ever since installing Windows 10 and Adobe Acrobat Standard DC my PDF files will not delete.  I have my preview pane turned off and holding shift while deleting does not affect my problem.  Closing out of the window and going back in helps only sometimes.  What can I do to delete these files?

Hi ,

What happens when you right click on the PDF(Where they are saved ,be it desktop or any other location) and click delete?

I hope you are not trying to delete within Acrobat.

Please explain the workflow you are following to delete the PDF.

When right clicking and hitting delete, it says the action can't be completed because the file is open in Windows Explorer.  My preview is turned off.

Hi abbiea81184332,

Please provide the exact dot version of the software & OS installed at your system .Also check whether is there any update available for the software after going through "help > check for updates "

Follow this thread to reset the preferences for the Acrobat software :- https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1595848  ‌&  after that open Acrobat, navigate to Help menu & repair the installation.

Would like to know whether the files which you are trying to delete are they save over any network if yes then first save them over local drive then try to delete them.

Also using which application files are created .

Thank you.

Window10 Pro 10586.71 Version 1511.  Adobe Acrobat DC(15.006.30119) No updates were available.

Files are created in CorelDraw and saved as a .pdf to a shared network drive. I have followed the instructions and it seems to have fixed the problem, however it does only happen to some, however it is most, of the files.

Thank you.

Hi ,

You could set your Default PDF viewer as Reader or Acrobat and then delete the files.
