I can't open my .pdfs. Has anyone had success on resolving this issue on their own?

I can't open my .pdfs. I have had specialists from adobe take control of my computer all day. Then it worked for an hour or so until I received a message to allow automatic updates. I clicked it and now it's not working again. Has anyone had this problem?

What happens when you use the menu File > Open... in Adobe Acrobat?

    I couldn't open the acrobat application or any .pdfs. But after troubleshooting (numerous times with adobe reps yesterday), they finally figured out my issue. The compatibility box was checked in preferences in the application and that was causing all of the issues.  Thank you for responding though. I couldn't get any work done without being able to manipulate my .pdfs....
