I downloaded Acrobat DC 30day trial and am still unable to sign a document. When I am unable to select the pen option to sign, it is grayed out?

That depends on the document. Does it have form fields, any digital signature fields, or is it Reader-enabled? Did you create the document?

No I didn't create the doc. It does have form fields. Not sure how to tell if it has digital signature fields? I can type in the fields just no signature
