Question

I have had Acrobat XI for over a year now and all of a sudden it will not make a word document into a pdf. the green bar sticks about a third of the way and never changes. I have reinstalled, but it does not change it. Any ideas?

Hi!

I have the same problem (Win7, Word 2003, Acrobat XI Pro). I removed recent Win7 update KB3177725. Now it works again , so the trouble is with Microsoft update.

Good job! I have tried this and can confirm that it works. The trade-off is not having this security update, which according to Microsoft "resolves vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows" that "could allow elevation of privilege if an attacker logs on to an affected system and runs a specially crafted application that could exploit the vulnerabilities and take control of an affected system."

One unanswered question is whether this issue only affects Word 2003. So far everyone who has posted (and identified their version of Word) has been using 2003.

Another update: I installed Word 2016 and had the same problem, so it looks like this Windows 7 security update cuts off Acrobat from Word somehow.

What version of Word/Office are you using? I am having the same problem with Word 2003, and I am wondering if it is just that version of Word, or if this problem is affecting newer versions of Word as well.

Also, what version of Windows are you using? The other three people reporting this problem (including me) use Win 7 and Word 2003. I am trying to find out if it is only that combination that's not working, in which case maybe I will need to buy a newer version of Word.

I also have the same problem with these other users. Have been able to convert to *pdf for years with Acobat 9.1 version. Have Office 2003, and Windows 7 Ultimate. Did and uninstall, reboot to clear registry, and reinstalled. The conversion process stops a MS Word 2003 file at 36% of the process at "Processing for Tag Information."

I am having the same problem, and two other people have asked this question over the last 24 hours. What happened--could a Windows update have done something?  The other threads are:

I´m unable to create pdf-files in MS Office 2003 after one of the last windows 7 "updates". win7, office 2003, can´t create pdf-files  (robinh58624285,    August 16 2016 9:50 AM)

Acrobat X Standard gets stuck while converting a Word File (robs78498158, August 15 2016 5:02 PM)

I am using Win 7 Home Premium, Windows 2003 and Acrobat XI Standard. I have successfully converted Word files to PDF for years using Acrobat. All of a sudden the process hangs, usually on "processing for tag information." If I turn off tagging in the conversion options in Word, a PDF file will be created, but, at least in long documents, the links won't work.

I have tried changing the conversion options, restoring the default conversion options, and uninstalling and reinstalling both Word and Acrobat. Nothing has helped.

I need this for my small business and am at a loss as to how to proceed, other than by trying another PDF generation program. Thanks for your help! --Robin Miller
