I purchased the Acrobat Pro subscription to then find out it doesn't work on Microsoft surface pro X

Lots and lots of things won't work on the Surface Pro X, it's a new type of PC. Here's Microsoft's info https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/surface-pro-arm-app-performance -- but basically, check absolutely everything before you buy it.
