Question

I saw a note about resolving an Acobrat XI issue by running the Adobe Reader/Cleaner application. Does this apply to Acrobat Pro DC Subscription?

Adobe cleaner is a tool the support team uses in many troubleshooting cases with deployment and installation issues.  It can work for many installation issues.  https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

Karl,

Smart to call out that clarification.  Thank you

yes, but the acrobat cleaner is for windows only (and it looks like you have a mac).  Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

do you have any acrobat or reader versions currently installed?

if yes, uninstall them.

if no, why are you installing acrobat xi instead of acrobat dc?

The Acrobat Cleaner used to be available for Windows only, but for the last few years, there is now also a Mac version (use the same link as for the Windows version).

The cleaner works for any type of Acrobat installation with one big exception: If your Acrobat was installed as part of a Creative Cloud (this is different from the Document Cloud) subscription, then you cannot use the cleaner, you will have to use the cleaner for CC.
