adobe install for adobe XI says I need to update xp64 to sp2. I reloaded the xp64 SP2, and still received the same message. The link in the message led to an XP64 SP2 MS download.

right click the update installer>click properties>compatibility mode>select xp sp2.

I will look into "Compatability mode".

My computer sytem properties shows that service pack two is installed.
