petew69433838,

Check out my reply to Sukrit. My Acrobat 9 also would not install onto Windows 10 and the "invalid serial number" reply occurred. However, after updating the Adobe Application Manager, uninstalling Acrobat 9, and then reinstalling it, it installed without a hitch and it works fine.

good luck,

Roger

I'm having exactly the same problem but on a Mac (running OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks). I hope there are other Mac users reading this

Actually I have the CS4 suite and the other software (Photoshop, Indesign etc.) works fine, but Acrobat 9 Pro upon starting up tells me that I need to enter the Admin name/password because it needs to make changes. If I don't do that it quits telling me "Adobe Acrobat can't be installed correctly". If I enter the computer's admin username/password I'm asked to enter the Adobe licensing number which I do (and yes, this is a fully legal, purchased software package and I'm sure I have the right licensing number) but immediately get a red "x" displaying it's incorrect.

So I figured it might be an OS incompatibility issue and booted from an OSX 10.6.8 drive as I know I've been running all my CS4 apps within that OS in the past, then installed my Adobe apps on that drive. Again Acrobat Pro 9 didn't work. I was told "Licensing for this product has stopped working". Then I came across the Adobe licensing repair tool (Mac/Windows) which I gave a go and presto! it worked So I figured it wasn't an OS issue, rebooted back into my regular OS (OSX 10.9.5) and attempted to run that same tool only to find out that it complains about only being able to run on PowerPC hardware (which indeed is very strange since I just ran it on the very same (Intel) computer, but under an older OS..... frustrating!

Since I now have Acrobat Pro 9 working on my OSX 10.6.8 drive, are there licensing files etc. I can copy over to my OSX 10.9.5 drive to make it work?

I have a similar problem installing Acrobat Pro 9 on a new computer with Windows 10, 64-bit operating system, but did not have that problem when I loaded it onto a computer with Windows 8.1 and then upgraded to Windows 10.

Hi ,

Acrobat 9 is not a compatible version with windows 10 and 8.

Also it is an unsupported version.

You would experience issues while installing it on an incompatible OS.

Sukrit,

thanks for the tip about updating the Adobe Application Manager (from another question of mine). As it turns out, once I updated the AAM for Creative Design Suite Premium 5 in Windows 10, I could then easily and without problem update the various components of CS5.  Moreover, and pertinent to the issue of installing Acrobat 9 onto a new computer running Windows 10, with the updated AAM installed, I then installed Adobe Reader XI, uninstalled Acrobat 9 Pro, and then reinstalled Acrobat 9 Pro. Acrobat 9 Pro installed without a hitch. I then updated it within Acrobat 9 Pro to 9.5.5 and it works fine. Perhaps this will be helpful for someone else.

make sure you're using the correct installation files.  eg, if your serial number is for a suite, you must use the suite installation files to install your acrobat.

Error: "The serial number is not valid for this product" | Adobe Creative Suite
