Invalid Serial Number

I have reinstalled my computer and reinstalled Acrobat Pro 9 on my replacement desktop.  When I try and to input the serial number and click next it says that the serial number is invalid.   Please could you provide advice.   I have already contacted Adobe who say that “I can tell you that the license is active and working fine. Now as the license is not getting activated on your machine, that is a technical issue and i am sorry we will not be able to assist you with this product.  I am afraid, Adobe has discontinued the phone and chat support for Acrobat Pro 10 and prior version products. For the Acrobat Pro 10 and older version products you will have to go to Adobe Forums and the Adobe representatives there would assist you with the old and obsolete products.  My OS is Windows 7 64 Bit.

1. You are not talking to Adobe here. We cannot give you keys! We can only suggest what we know.

2. Speaking to Adobe may not help, as these prodcts are out of support.

3. Creative Suite Design Premium includes Acrobat Pro. It looks VERY MUCH as if you have a Creative Suite version of Acrobat (some versions of CS gave a separate serial). Install with your orignal CS5 DVDs. Why would you have paid for Acrobat when you already had it in CS5?

@tsn, he bought acrobat first (2010), then later purchased cs5 (2012).  that would make sense.

@carlo, use the cs5 design prem installation files and and your cs5 serial number to install acrobat pro 9 from that suite.

@kglad, I used my CS4 design premium installation files and everything went well, using my serial number. But when I went to open Acrobat Pro, it wanted the serial again. Which would indicated a flaw in accepting the key... or that it needed another key - but my CS4 only has one key (sticker) on the box.

I bought it new, no one has touched it, and I have always had issues with this... and someone at Adobe has always had to do "some magic" to help me get through this - while never really making it clear to me what they did - so I could repeat it in the future. Of course, I had no idea how long this would haunt me! Or I would have been more proactive in demanding more knowledge.

My point is: the key for CS4 DOES NOT WORK for Acrobat Pro 9 (that was installed with it). This is not new... it's a repeating pattern, and I have had to struggle with it every time I have upgraded my OS (always a clean install - and no migration) in order to get it fixed. Adobe never taught me to fish... and now they won't respond. I don't need a lot of trying this or that (been there done that).

I have a new, clean CS4 install that is working. I just need someone to unlock my own key to Acrobat!

uninstall your acrobat pro 9 and uninstall all reader versions and any other acrobat versions.

clean per Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

check your hosts file (for help with that and other common secure adobe.com connection problems read, http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-issues.html)

restart your computer

retry installing acrobat 9 using compatibility mode.

Hi,

1. I don't have any Reader/Acrobat version installed

2. I didn't do any modification to my host file.

3. I tryed using compatible mode without sucess.

It always says Invalid serial number.

It not a typo either because I copyed and paste from my Adobe account. (accounts.adobe.com)

Thank you and have a great day.

make sure you're using the product and version shown next to your serial number.
