Is there a way to prevent a person from downloading my file when protecting?

I would really appreciate any help with finding out how to protect a pdf from being downloaded after sending to the recipient?

Absolutely, completely, no way at all. To read it at all, it has to be downloaded. When they see it, it is already downloaded. If it is downloaded, it can be saved, copied, shared.
