Does anyone use any other utility to create, test and run scripts that they create with Acrobat?

Nothing like that exists. However, there are ways to make the development process easier on yourself and the primary one is to put all of your functions at the document level and set your actions to call the functions rather than directly code in the action. You save a lot of headaches that way.

You can use an external editor, which is very helpful, but that's it.
