Issue with using AcroPDF viewer - Blinking Cursor - High CPU Usage

Hi,

I have a VB6 app that uses the AcroPDF.dll to view PDF files.

Since the update to 15.23.20053 anytime I use the AcroPDF control to view the PDF I get a constantly blinking cursor, it flickers between the arrow cursor and the loading cursor. Also the CPU usage jumps up and slows down the PC.

In the background I can see a process called RDRCEF.exe constantly opening and crashing... I think this is the issue.

Would anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this issue.

As I said this issue only occurs with the update to 15.23.20053.

Specific details:

AcroPDF.dll - version 15.23.20053

RDRCEF.exe - version 15.23.20053

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

It's a standalone VB application (Windows Form based Application). It has no integration with IE.

Thanks,

Hi pf36742715,

I am sorry for replying so late.

Could you please try installing the patch from the link given below and see if that resolves the issue?

Hi pf36742715,

Could you please try disabling Protected Mode and see if that helps:

Launch Reader>click Edit>Preferences>Security(Enhanced)>uncheck the box Enable Protected Mode at startup>OK.

Also, try to update Reader to the latest, launch Reader>click Help>select Check for Updates.

In addition to that, you may try creating a new user account and see that works, visit the following link which explains how to create a new user account in Windows: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/13951/windows-create-user-account

Thank You,

Shivam

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

Disabling the Protection Mode does not a difference. The issue is still there.

I've updated the version of the Reader to 2015.023.20056 and it does not a difference. The issue is still there.

This issue is affecting multiple PC installations (20+) so creating a new user is not a viable option - I haven't and will not be trying this approach.

Thanks.
