Keep scanning in background on Windows 7 Pro?

Running Windows 7 Pro and would like to get some work done while scanning multipage docs in Acrobat XI Pro.  Unfortunately, the "transferring data" window pops up as each page gets scanned.  This interrupts my workflow, and is a change from how prior versions worked (scanning was continuous with simultaneous data transfer, now each page gets the full treatment before the next page is scanned in).
